Behind the Scenes of Greymouth’s History.

The Greymouth Heritage Trust works to restore, maintain and promote items of heritage interest. Their aim is to enhance community well-being and help stimulate tourism as the new Coast economy. Currently underway is their significant strip down and reconstruction of Greymouth’s Cowan and Sheldon Wharf Cranes; once complete, this project will host boutique accommodation facilities and a virtual reality experience of the Greymouth Port.

Other projects of interest include:

  • Advocacy and protection of Greymouth heritage buildings.
  • Overseeing Greymouth’s Coal River Park and Q Wagons
  • Maintaining the Greymouth Railway Signal Box
  • Endorsing a new Historic Mining Area of the Southern Paparoas
